Fig Vin Cotto (Fig Molasses) from Calabria

This Fig Vin Cotto (Fig Molasses) is made in Calabria from "Dottato" figs.  It is especially used to dip your Christmas Cartellate. But it is also perfect to make cookies and desserts and it is great when drizzled over Gelato.

In our home, it is not Christmas if Nonna Romana and her sister Nonna Rosa do not make Cartellate.

We love the Fig sauce. We used for salad dressing and also in cooking.

It is thin more like a syrup than a molasses. I was expecting it to be a lot thicker.

Bringing back memories

I purchased this to make chestnut cookies. I was pleasantly surprised not having made them in years. Took me right back in time. Wasn’t enough for the cookies so I used it in a wheat dessert I make. It came out perfect! I also purchased the other bottle Nonna has. (Mosto Cotto). Haven't used i yet. So very pleased . Thank you for carrying this product

Go-to for anything to replace sugar with a bonus fig flavor

I've used this for cookie filling. I've used it to top oatmeal and in smoothies. Ive even used it to replace the sweetener in no-bake cookies. It's incredible no matter what you add it to. But my favorite is - in Coffee. Yes but not the coffee you are thinking about. My family is from southern Italy. When we were children, my grandmother made us coffee every morning by heating espresso then pouring it into a bowl of goat milk, and adding broken pieces of stale bread, and topping that with sugar. I still make this on the weekends and drizzle the fig molasses all over the top in place of sugar. It is ridiculously good!

Haven’t opened it yet. After many years and attempts to make my own cartalatte, I’m eagerly waiting to buy yours. I want the fig vino to stay fresh. When will they become available?
