Grape Vin Cotto from Calabria

This Grape Vin Cotto is made in Calabria from Calabrian grape must.   It is especially used to dip your Christmas Cartellate or  can also be drizzled over Gelato! It is great to make cookies and desserts as well.

In our home, it is not Christmas if Nonna Romana and her sister Nonna Rosa do not make Cartellate.

Cartellate from Puglia available HERE

Bottle Size:  250 ml

Ingredients:  Cooked Pure Calabrian grape must.

Exactly as required for Calabrese Christmas cookies

I was so happy when I found this product in the assortment. This ingredient is required in a Christmas cookie recipe passed down from my nonna (Pitte di San Martino). This was the first year I could make the recipe with all typical ingredients and it turned out great.

I make my own vin cotto but I like to have a bottle or two of this brand on hand just in case I don’t have enough. This tastes just like the vin cotto I’ve been making for years.

Just like my parents used to make!

I did not personally purchase this. It was given to me. We used to make this when we made wine but unfortunately no longer. It was so nice to give this a go in my chestnut cookies. A labor of love. It’s so nice to know I can come here and purchase vino cotto without all the work! Thank you for bringing this product to us. It was wonderful and I look forward to purchasing it. Only wish the bottle was larger!

Simply Flavorful Grape Vin Cotto

It is also a great topping for vanilla or cannoli ice cream or poured over fresh cut up fruit. This is one way I remember a relative in Calabria using it. Can't wait to try on fresh peaches. A nice pleasant tasting flavor. If it will last that long! Or I'll just order another. :)

Fig Vin Cotto

I bought the Fig version of this. Very flavorful but a bit too sweet and thin consistency. Not quite like Nonna's. I also bought 2 packeges of the Cartellate to put the syrup on. They were very yummy. One package was great. The other was more broken up. Glad I bought 2 packages.
